Route 188 work updated
WAYNESBURG – Travel between Waynesburg and Jefferson will be much easier with the completion of a project to repair a slide on Route 188, Jefferson Road, just east of Valley Farm Drive.
The slide repair work has been completed and the road reopened, said Valerie Peterson, spokeswoman for the state Department of Transportation.
Work continues on a small bridge on Route 188 behind the Greene County Fairgrounds and as a result a detour remains in place for through-traffic between Bill George Drive and Elm Drive.
The existing detour for the bridgework involves Route 21, Elm Drive and Route 188, which is much easier to follow, and shorter, than the detour that was in effect during the slide repair. That detour had involved Route 21, Route 88 and Route 188.
Work on the replacement of the bridge behind the fairgrounds is expected to be completed by the end of July.
