Canonsburg man charged with assault
A Canonsburg man accused of having inappropriate contact with a young girl over a four-year period starting more than a decade ago was arraigned Monday on charges including aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
Raymond Charles Shook, 71, of 114-C Smith St., is accused of inappropriately touching the girl between 2002 and 2006 when she was between the ages of 6 and 10.
Shook was charged by a detective with Washington County’s specialized victim and prosecution unit.
Canonsburg police received a call Sept. 30 concerning a possible sexual assault.
The girl, during a forensic interview at Mercy Hospital, said the incidents began with Shook rubbing her leg.
Police said he also allegedly put his hand inside her clothing and gave her “hickies.”
Shook, who also is charged with corruption of minors, was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and released on $25,000 unsecured bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 18 before District Judge Ethan Ward.
