Reward offered for man accused of child rape
Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of an Erie man wanted on charges including the rape of a boy in Canton Township a decade ago.
Kevin James Mickle, 35, was charged June 17 by Trooper Thomas Kress with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors. He is accused of raping the boy between 2001 and 2003 while he lived in Pennsylvania. Kress said the alleged crimes were reported only recently. The boy was between the ages of 5 and 7 at the time of the alleged assaults.
On Sept. 13, 2012, a state parole warrant was issued for Mickle for violating his parole on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon.
Mickle is being sought by the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force. Mickle, whose last known address was in the Lower East Side of Erie, also is known to frequent Millcreek Township. Police said Mickle has been known to go to New Mexico and Arizona. He also may have recently been in Texas but also continues to have ties to Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Mickle is 6 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a scar on his abdomen and above his left eye. He also has a tattoo on his right arm. Mickle also occasionally wears glasses. He may have a beard and mustache.
Mickle is considered to be armed and dangerous. Police said he has violent tendencies and has been known to abuse drugs and alcohol. Police also consider him an escape risk.
