1 min read

ALLENTOWN (AP) – A woman canvassing a northeastern Pennsylvania neighborhood on Election Day rescued a man from his burning garage.

WFMZ-TV spoke to Milagros Cintron after the incident at around noon Tuesday in Allentown.

She said she was going door to door and reminding people to get to the polls when she saw fire coming from a garage and a man under a car with “flames from his feet to his waist.”

Cintron said she pulled the man out and doused him with a hose.

Firefighters said the man was tinkering with his car when the fire started and quickly set the garage on fire. Firefighters said the man suffered burns to his legs but he’s expected to live.

After the fire, Cintron returned to her canvassing duties.
