County rabbit club member shows well at convention

Alexus Grecoe, 13, a member of the Greene County 4-H Rabbit Club, attended the 90th American Rabbit Breeders Association Convention Oct. 18-23 in Harrisburg.

Grecoe, daughter of Michael and Bobbie Grecoe of Lone Pine, took 37 rabbits. Her goal was to have a few in the top 10 of their classes, but she did better than that.

She won best opposite of breed, best opposite of variety steel, best steel fur, dest steel display and best blue display.

She also won second place black senior doe; second place blue senior doe; seventh place black junor buck; third place blue senior buck; fourth place blue junior buck; seventh place blue junior doe; first and third place chocolate senior does; fifth place tort senior buck; 10th place tort senior doe; seventh, eighth and ninth place tort junior bucks; first and third place steel senior does; fourth place steel junior buck; first and third place steel junior doe; fifth and ninth place gray senior bucks and 10th place gray junior doe.

Grecoe raises Dutch rabbits and has approximately 60 rabbits. The Dutch rabbits come in six different varieties:, black, blue, chocolate, gray, steel and tort. She has all six.

She is currently third place in the nation in the American Dutch Rabbit club for the youth breeders. She attends shows throughout the year, mainly in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Grecoe has several mentors throughout the United States who have helped her get to where she is today.
