A tanker truck carrying fresh water for Young’s Environmental Cleanup Inc. wrecked at the intersection of Route 40 and Brady Road in North Bethlehem Township Tuesday around 5 p.m.

One man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after his tanker truck overturned Tuesday around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Brady Road and Route 40 in North Bethlehem Township.

The driver, Kenneth L. Moore, 49, of Washington, had moderate injuries and was flown to Allegheny General Hospital, according to state police.

Moore was driving east on Route 40 when three of his tires failed while rounding a turn, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The truck rolled on its left side and then struck an embankment. Moore was extricated from the vehicle. A one-mile section of Route 40 between Wonsettler and Brady roads was closed in both directions while Hazmat crews cleaned fuel that had leaked onto the road.

The truck was hauling fresh water for Young’s Environmental Cleanup Inc., and company officials transferred the water from the wrecked truck into a new tanker truck.

Around the same time, state police responded to an incident in Donegal Township in which a truck hit an obstruction on Interstate 70 East near the Pennsylvania Welcome Center, according to a 911 supervisor. The collision tore a hole in the vehicle’s gas tank, causing about 150 gallons of diesel fuel to leak from the vehicle. Additional details were not available Tuesday.
