1 min read

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Authorities say a 1-year-old girl was struck by a subway train in Philadelphia and is in the hospital with significant head injuries.

Transit officials said a man holding the child was standing too close to the edge of the platform just outside of downtown Philadelphia as the train approached around 8 p.m. Friday.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority spokesman Andrew Busch says the girl was struck in the head and rushed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Police told The Philadelphia Inquirer she was in serious condition.
