Neighborhood disturbance: Angelia Waszkiewicz, 23, of 131 ½ N. Jefferson Ave., Canonsburg, will be cited for public drunkenness after borough police said she caused a disturbance in her neighborhood about 6 p.m. Thursday. Officers said they were called to the apartment multiple times for arguments she was having with neighbors.
Money stolen: A bag of cash and a Social Security card were stolen from under the driver’s seat in a van parked in the drive at 1152 Valleyview Drive, Lawrence, township police said. Owner Albert Buerkle Jr., 65, of 1152 Valleyview Drive, told police he noticed the bag containing $1,500 in cash and the card were missing Monday, but he did not report the theft until 11:30 a.m. Thursday, police said.
Truck rolls over on I-70: A tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 70 near the West Virginia line caused minor delays Friday morning. State police said the truck driven by Jerry Saylor, 41, of Rock Falls, Ill., was traveling east near the West Alexander exit when he lost control while reaching for his coffee and the vehicle rolled over about 6:45 a.m. One eastbound lane was closed for several hours while crews removed the tractor-trailer from the highway. Saylor was not injured, but state police said they plan to cite him for careless driving and accident involving an overturned vehicle.
Man jailed: Matthew Miller, 30, of 416 Allen Ave., Donora, is charged by borough police with two counts of theft, accused of stealing jewelry and a gaming station from Scharea Majors, and an Internet router from her mother, Dana Purdue, court records show. Police accused Miller of stealing the items about 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11 while at Majors’ residence at 1328 Meldon Ave. to perform repairs there for the landlord, the affidavit states. He is in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond after being arrested Thursday on a warrant and arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson.
Jewelry stolen: State police said a home in the 1900 block of Brush Run Road in Hopewell Township was burglarized Oct. 24, and several pieces of jewelry were stolen from the bedroom.
One injured: Tara Howard, 36, of Walker Road, Canonsburg, was taken to UPCM-Mercy hospital, Pittsburgh, following a two-car accident at 7:34 p.m. Thursday, when her car rolled over after striking another car, township police said. Howard was traveling north on Washington Road near Waterdam Road when her vehicle swerved into a car that was stopped in the southbound turning lane, police said. A witness behind Howard’s car told police the vehicle was swerving before the accident. The driver of the car stopped in the turn lane, Alexandra Oglesby, 20, of Sugar Run Road, Eighty Four, was not injured, police said. A Tri-County Ambulance crew witnessed the accident and immediately attended to Howard, police said. The crew reportedly noticed a smell of alcohol on Howard and notified police, who requested a blood draw to test for intoxication.
Retail theft charge: Anthony Shadeck, 25, of 88 Country Club Road, South Strabane, was charged with retail theft after township police said he tried to steal a television worth $248 from Walmart about 1 p.m. Thursday.
Theft arrest: Johnna E. Walsh, 38, of 855 Ewing St., Washington, is charged by state police with theft and receiving stolen property, court records show. Police accuse her of stealing a rifle, power tools, video game devices and 60 video games valued at $5,000 about noon Thursday from the 1 Stone Road residence of her estranged boyfriend, William McDonough. Walsh is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
