Crash shuts down Route 40

1 min read

Route 40 near Zediker Station Road was closed for about eight hours Thursday following an early morning crash.

The car, driven by Candace Orlandi, of Pittsburgh, overturned five times at about 5:30 a.m. on the municipal line between South Strabane and Amwell townships after a deer jumped in front of the car causing Orlandi to swerve and strike a utility pole. Crews were forced to close the road to repair the pole, a Washington County emergency dispatcher said. Traffic was detoured around the area.

South Strabane Township police did not have a report on the crash available Thursday.
