Merit badge program planned
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg University will become Merit Badge University Saturday by providing Boy Scouts with the opportunity to earn merit badges while being exposed to a wide spectrum of academic disciplines by qualified faculty and staff at Waynesburg University.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by sessions at 9 a.m., lunch at noon, a campus tour at 12:30 p.m. and the final sessions beginning at 1:30 p.m. The closing is scheduled from 4:30 to 5 p.m.
Badges will be earned in the following disciplines, presented by the following counselors: American business, Gordon McClung; American heritiage, Rea Redd; bird study, Chris Sink;, chemistry, Evonne Baldauff; citizenship in the community, Chaley Knight and Mary Hamilla; citizenship in the nation, Larry Stratton, Missy Sargent, Parker Kantos and Dan Czajkowski; citizenship in the world, Rich Waddell; communications, Lanny Frattare and George Cicci; crime prevention, Jim Tanda and Mike Cipoletti.
Also, cycling, Bryan Hamilton; environmental science, Wayne Rossiter; fingerprinting, Adam Jack and Mike Cipoletti; fire safety, Larry Marshall; graphic arts, Chad Sherman; Indian lore, Kelley Hardie and Frank Pazzynski; journalism, Brandon Szuminsky; music, Melanie Catana; pottery, Andrew Heisey; and public health, Chad Sethman.
