PennDOT announces work schedule
WAYNESBURG – Greene County Maintenance Manager Jerome Simkovic announced the following tentative work plan for the week of Oct. 28.
All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.
As of Nov. 1, Greene County PennDOT will begin winter operations and be manned for telephonic notifications 24 hours a day. Please drive extremely careful when operating a vehicle in proximity to any snow plow operations due to blowing snow, spreading of materials, and reduced visibility.
The work schedule is as follows:
• Slide repair activities will continue on Route 3014, Bluff Ridge Road (Wayne Township). This road remains closed and is expected to reopen on or about Nov. 1.
• Concrete pipe replacement activities will occur on Route 221, Lippencott Road (Morgan Township).
• Bridge closure and concrete pipe replacement operations continue on Route 221, Lippencott Road (Morgan Township).
• Brush cutting and inlet cleaning activities will be conducted along roadside berms on Route 2001, Rudolph Run Road (Perry Township), from the state line north to the intersection of Route 2018, Kirby Road (Whitely Township).
• Inlet cleaning will occur on Route 2003, Buckeye Road (Perry Township) north to the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township).
• Inlet cleaning will occur on Route 2011, Bobtown Road (Dunkard Township) state line boarder north to Township Road T481, Fordyce School Road (Greene Township).
• Inlet cleaning will take place on Route 4035, Water Dam Road (Washington Township) from Route 4033, Garner Run Road (Washington Township) to Route 18, Browns Creek Road (Franklin Township).
• Brush cutting will take place on Route 2004 Taylortown Road, (Dunkard Township) north from the state line to the intersection of Route 2011 Bobtown Road (Dunkard Township).
• Crack sealing and will continue on I-79 North from the Mount Morris interchange (Perry Township) to the Waynesburg interchange (Franklin Township).
• Median and roadside berm grass will be mowed this week on Interstate 79, from the Washington County line to the West Virginia state line.
• Pavement crack sealing will be conducted on Route 4002, Crabapple Road (Richhill Township).
• Manual and Roscoe Spray Patching will take place on Route 4010, Grange Road (Gray Township) and on Route 18 and Route 21, West Roy Furman Highway (Center Township).
• Cross-pipe cleaning is scheduled for Route 18, Golden Oaks Road (Center and Jackson Townships).
• Mechanical patching will occur in the area of a slide on Route 4001, Dodds Ridge Road (Richhill Township).
• Bridge closure on Route 18,Browns Creek Road (Franklin Township) near the water dam is restricting traffic to one lane and is controlled by traffic light. Note: Traffic must stop when traffic signal is red to permit traffic with green light to proceed with extreme caution. This site is permitted for 10-foot wide clearance maximums.
• Bridge replacement operations conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road (Freeport Township), near the community of New Freeport. Traffic is restricted to one lane and controlled by traffic signal. Note: This site is permitted for 11-foot wide clearance maximums.
• Patching operations will take place on Route 88, from the Point Marion Bridge, (Dunkard Township) to the Paisley Intersection (Cumberland and Monongahela Township area).
• The Greene County State Correctional Institution’s Community Work Program will conduct roadside litter pick-up operations on Route 18, from Nettle Hill (Jackson Township) to the Borough of Waynesburg (Franklin Township).
State roads will be reviewed and signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and concerns addressed on various state roads throughout the county Route 3006, known locally as Jollytown Road (Gilmore Township) and Hero Road (Gilmore Township) will have a roadway survey conducted on it.

Be aware of an increase in white-tail deer activity throughout the entire roadway grid in Greene County.
