Art Blast on the Mon, wishes for the river planned tonight
GREENSBORO – The Art Blast on the Mon will be held today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. At 8:30 p.m. tonight it will reconvene for A River Full of Wishes, a ceremony to fill the Monongahela River with ‘good wishes.’
The public is invited to participate in this celebration of the River of the Year by gathering at the end of Stone Street, on the Monongahela River in Greensboro. Everyone who attends will receive a biodegradable Chinese wishing candle to float into the river with their wish. After the last candle has been sent on its path, cake and beverages will be served at the town gazebo. Organizers would like to hear the best stories people have of enjoying the Monongahela River, whether it is a fish tail, working on the river, or just family time on its banks.
The events during the day Saturday will begin at 10 a.m. with crafts, demonstrations, music, food and exhibits.
