Flenniken to feature author of cookbook
CARMICHAELS – Miriam Rubin, author of “Tomatoes,” a Savor the South cookbook, will appear at the Flenniken Public Library at 6 p.m. Wednesday to speak with visitors about her book and using fresh garden produce in meals.
She will have copies of her book available for purchase, and attendees are welcome to bring in some of their garden produce for possible discussion.
Rubin is a trained chef with a degree from the Culinary Institute of America. She was the first woman to work in the kitchens of The Four Seasons Restaurant, and worked in restaurants for about 10 years before making the switch to food writing. She worked at Redbook Magazine and later was the food editor at Weight Watchers Magazine, but has recently worked as a freelancer, food features for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She also writes a seasonal column for the paper called “Miriam’s Garden.”
