Master Gardener training planned
WAYNESBURG – Are you a gardener who loves to learn, wants to help others and would enjoy serving with other volunteers who share your passion for gardening, learning and community service?
Then the time may be right for you to become a Penn State Master Gardener. Those accepted into the program receive more than 40 hours of horticultural training from Penn State instructors.
In return, you would volunteer 50 hours during your first year; and 20 hours per year after that to remain a Master Gardener.
This year’s 19-session training program will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays (excluding holidays) from Oct. 3 to Feb. 27, 2014, in the Penn State Extension Office, 26 W. High St., Waynesburg.
Applications are being accepted through Sept. 23 and they are available from the extension office, but please apply as soon as possible. The program fee of $175 per person covers the cost of training materials and expenses. Payment plans are possible upon request.
For more information, call the extension office at 724-627-3745.
