PITTSBURGH (AP) – A Western Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing another man during a robbery at a party in Pittsburgh on New Year’s Eve 2011.

Twenty-six-year-old Dana Johnson of Carrick was sentenced Tuesday. A jury had found him guilty of first-degree murder for the shooting of 23-year-old Donald Russell.

Prosecutors said Johnson took an AK-47 into a house party and went through at least one person’s pockets before Russell was shot because he resisted.

The defense attorney said there was no physical evidence linking her client to the shooting.
