2 min read

WAYNESBURG – Personnel was the focus of the Central Greene School Board meeting Tuesday.

The board approved a list of a thirteen teachers to act as professional substitutes for the school year in various grades and disciplines. Due to a shortage of substitute teachers in the area, the board also approved a list of 69 substitutes who have emergency certification through the Intermediate Unit. They would only be called if teachers on the traditional list are unavailable.

The Intermediate Unit offers classes for persons with bachelor’s degrees to receive an emergency certification to teach.

In another matter, the board granted tenure to middle school teacher Matthew Egizio and elementary life skills teacher Mary Sielski.

Danielle Golden and Sara Evanoff were hired to serve as temporary special education teachers at the high school.

The board granted a maternity leave, followed by a family medical leave, for middle school teacher Sarah Cyprowski from Nov. 8 through Feb. 14, 2014.

James Howard was named as a member of the Central Greene SAP Team at Margaret Bell Miller Middle School and 20 teachers were appointed to the Central Greene Curriculum Council.

Kim Lesinski was transferred from a cook/cashier position at the high school to a newly created personal care assistant position at the elementary. Lesinski received the position based on test scores and work experience.

Sandra Matthews was approved as a non-instructional employee. Erin Gump was hired as a cashier for the middle school. Courtney Patterson was hired as a student lifeguard at an hourly rate of $11.49 for the pool at the high school.
