Pa. man ordered to stand trial in slaying of wife
SOUDERTON (AP) – A Southeastern Pennsylvania man has been ordered to stand trial in the stabbing death of his wife.
Thirty-six-year-old Walid Mitwalli of Hatfield Township in Montgomery County is charged with first- and third-degree murder in the June 7 death of his 30-year-old wife Mona.
He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court next month for a formal arraignment.
More than a dozen members of the woman’s family packed the brief hearing Wednesday and some could be heard sobbing during testimony. The family did not comment after the hearing.
Police said Mona Mitwalli was stabbed at least 15 times as the couple’s 5-year-old twin daughters slept upstairs.
Defense attorney Hercules Pappas said “when all the facts are out everybody will be able to see why this happened.”
