Retail theft: Paul George Hatala, Jr., 20, of Washington, was charged with stealing two cartons of cigarettes from the Lil Store, 1004 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, at 2:16 p.m. Sept. 17, state police said.

One-vehicle accident: James Woodrow Hayes, 38, of Waynesburg, was involved in a one-vehicle accident at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 12, on 1794 Golden Oaks Road. State police said Hayes was traveling south just north of Delphene Road when his Dodge Dakota traveled across the northbound lane and struck two large rocks and a wood trash container off the northbound shoulder. Hayes’s vehicle then traveled down an embankment and rolled onto its side before coming to rest against a tree, police said. Hayes then fled from the scene on foot.

Lawn equipment stolen: Police said someone broke into a garage and stole a gray Craftsman lawn tractor and a push mower. The incident happened between 3 p.m. Sept. 13 and 9 a.m. Sept. 17. The location of the garage was not given. Anyone with information is asked to call state police.

Car forced off road: A Canonsburg woman sustained minor injuries when her car was forced off the road by another vehicle at 7:39 a.m. Sept 13 near the Ruff Creek exit of Interstate 79. State police said Lacey B. McDonald, 29, was traveling south in the passing lane when she swerved off the left berm to avoid being struck. McDonald told police a white pickup truck merged into her lane to allow a vehicle to enter from the on ramp, but she said the truck forced her to drive off the roadway and into an embankment. The truck, described as white, possibly a Ford F-150, continued south after the crash.

Theft: Four parking meters in Waynesburg parking lot No. 3 at the corner of High and Morris streets were broken into between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, Waynesburg police said. The coins inside were stolen.
