Testimony begins in nonjury trial
Visiting Judge Edward Borkowski heard testimony Friday in the robbery trial of a North Charleroi woman charged with stealing $200 from an an occupied van parked in an alley in that community nearly a year ago.
Alysia Prosser, 29, is accused of reaching into the vehicle, taking the cash and running. Officer Michael Kresich, under questioning by Assistant District Attorney Joshua Carroll, testified he responded to a complaint of a disturbance Sept. 30 2012 in a typically quiet neighborhood in the 500 block of Fifth Street. Police filed the charge against Prosser by summons.
Prosser’s attorney, John Puskar, introduced evidence about the height of the van to show that his client is too short to have reached into the vehicle. Prosser said she was seven months pregnant at the time of the incident.
Neither Marlita Addis, 50, of Charleroi, nor the other occupant of the van, a Monessen resident, came to court Friday, so Borkowski continued the matter until next month.
