90-year-old Ohio showboat future uncertain

1 min read

CINCINNATI (AP) – A 90-year-old showboat and Cincinnati’s only floating park faces an uncertain future with the production company that has staged shows there since 1991 leaving after this month.

The Showboat Majestic docked full time on the Ohio River is owned by the city and run through its park system. But Cincinnati Landmark Productions has staged the summertime shows there for 23 seasons.

The production company’s artistic director told The Cincinnati Enquirer that productions on the National Historic Landmark require a lot of effort and expense. Tim Perrino says the company will focus on a new theater it’s building in Cincinnati.

City Parks Director Willie Carden says Cincinnati is keeping the showboat but is seeking suggestions on its future.
