State police arrested a Perry Township man on charges of burglarizing a residence at 248 Big Shannon Run Road, Mt. Morris Sept. 22.

Logan Cory Ice, 21, of 130 Elm St., Mt. Morris, was arraigned Sunday before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Lee Watson on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

According to the criminal complaint, police went to the residence of the alleged victim, David Johnson, after first speaking with a volunteer fire fighter who was directing traffic for a car show near Belko Market. The firefighter told police he saw Ice on a bicycle heading toward the interstate.

When police spoke with Johnson he told them he saw Ice riding a bicycle down his driveway with a backpack and then noticed a ladder leading to a second story door. He noted that a PlayStation 2 video game system and games were missing. Johnson said Ice is an acquaintance of his son, Daniel P. Johnson, but he did not have permission to be at the home.

Police located Ice at a residence on Locust St. in Mt. Morris where a bicycle and a dark-colored book bag were visible on the porch. Ice allegedly admitted to police that he was at the Johnson residence and took a PlayStation 2 and video games. He said he used a ladder to gain entry to a second floor door and that he used the book bag to carry the items. Police said Ice told them he went to the residence to feed a cat and he had permission to take these things.

They later questioned Johnson’s son, Daniel, who is in the Greene County jail on unrelated charges. Daniel Johnson told police he did not give Ice permission to take the video game system or to be at his father’s residence.

Ice is being held on $125,000 straight cash bail in the Greene County Prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. Sept. 30 before Watson.
