New charges filed against accused thief
A Canonsburg woman who is accused of stealing jewelry and medication while cleaning houses in Cecil Township and Mt. Lebanon will face additional theft charges in Peters Township
Theresa M. Young, 38, of 201 Vine St., is accused of taking about $5,000 in jewelry while cleaning a house in the 300 block of Buckingham Drive, Venetia, on Sept. 19, Peters Township police said.
Missing are a gold rope necklace, a white gold, diamond and sapphire wedding band and an engagement ring with a one-carat, pear-shaped diamond, police said.
A charge of theft will be filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis.
A charge of theft was filed Tuesday in the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo by Cecil Township police accusing Young of stealing about $15,000 in jewelry from a residence she was cleaning on Ironwood Drive in Southpointe.
Cecil police Detective Mark Marcucci said Young confessed to the thefts Monday at the Peters Township police station, and also told police she sold the jewelry at a gold-exchange store in Bethel Park.
Mt. Lebanon police requested an arrest warrant for Young on allegations she stole about $400 in jewelry and medication from a house she was cleaning in July.
