Food safety training course being offered

1 min read

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, licensed food establishments now must employ one supervisory employee who has successfully completed a food safety training class.

Completing the necessary training and passing the associated exam brings licensed food establishments into compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Food Employee Certification Act.

To help food establishments meet this requirement, Penn State Extension is offering a Food Safety Training Course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 15 and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 22 at the Greene County Penn State Extension Office in Waynesburg.

The examination will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 22. The course fee of $175 per person covers the cost of the ServSafe® course book, instructional materials and refreshment breaks.

For more information, or for a brochure, call the Penn State Extension Office in Westmoreland County at 724-837-1402.

Pre-registration is required. To register, log on to extension.psu.edu/food-safety/events and complete the required information. For those without Internet access, register by contacting the Penn State Extension Office at 724-837-1402.
