Two men face assault charges
A North Franklin Township man was arrested Monday and a Buffalo Township man faces charges stemming from an alleged assault Saturday night at a home at 999 Mounts Road in South Franklin Township.
Douglas E. Louk, 45, of Cleveland Road, North Franklin, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment filed by state police for allegedly hitting Joseph Desmond in the head with a hammer. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Desmond is also accused of fighting with Louk. He will be charged by summons with simple assault and harassment.
The assault was not reported to police until Monday morning. Kristen Louk, Louk’s wife, told police she did not call until Monday because she wanted to wait until her children left for school. Desmond told police that he and Kristen Louk did not contact police because they feared for their lives.
The incident reportedly started when Louk pushed Joseph Andrew Brown off a chair. Desmond tried to intervene and reportedly got into the altercation with Louk. All four had been drinking, police said.
A preliminary hearing is set for April 14 before Ward.
