WAYNESBURG – Two men were arrested by state police in Waynesburg and charged in the March 24 armed robbery of the BFS Truck Stop in Mt. Morris.

Shyan Michael Strosnider, 20, of 358 N. Moreland St., Bobtown, and Travis Charles-Lee Shuppe, 20, of 151 Cemetery Hill Road, Dilliner, were arraigned before District Judge Lou Dayich on conspiracy charges to commit robbery, theft and simple assault.

Shuppe was arraigned Tuesday night and placed in the Greene County jail on $10,000 bond. Strosnider was arraigned Wednesday morning and jailed on $20,000 bond. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. April 10.

The truck stop was robbed at 12:15 a.m. According to criminal complaints filed by trooper Daniel Barnhart, Strosnider approached a truck stop clerk, held a knife to the clerk’s side and demanded money. He fled with $345 in a car allegedly driven by Shuppe.

Acting on a tip implicating Shuppe in the robbery, Barnhart said he went to Shuppe’s house and learned his mother owns a gold Subaru Outback, which fit the vehicle description in which the robbers were seen fleeing the truck stop.

Shuppe was interviewed and admitted his involvement in the robbery, Barnhart said. Shuppe told police he and Strosnider were talking about being broke when Strosnider broached the idea of robbing the truck stop.

The two stopped in Bobtown where Strosnider got a knife, hooded sweatshirt and a “commando or paintball type mask.” Shuppe told police he drove to the truck stop and waited in the car while Strosnider went inside.

Strosnider returned to the car with a bag of money and the two drove toward Davistown. They disposed of the mask, sweatshirt and knife on the way. The two split the money.

Shuppe said he dropped Strosnider off in Bobtown and drove to Masontown to buy drugs. At his arraignment, Shuppe and his mother indicated the need for Shuppe to enter a drug rehabilitation program. Dayich said he would reconsider the bail should Shuppe be accepted into an approved rehabilitation program.
