Two killed in head-on crash near Pittsburgh

WHITE OAK (AP) – Authorities in Western Pennsylvania say a head-on crash killed a man and woman near Pittsburgh.

Police in White Oak say a sedan heading for McKeesport crossed the center line and collided with another sedan heading toward North Versailles Township shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said 32-year-old Michael Bakosh of Baldwin and 45-year-old Carrie Thomas of McKeesport were pronounced dead shortly afterward in the emergency room of UPMC-McKeesport.

Chief Lou Bender told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the roads were wet, but investigators don’t believe weather was a factor in the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
