1 min read

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) – Several hikers from Kentucky who were stranded overnight in a West Virginia state park were rescued.

Three hikers were rescued Monday in Coopers Rock State Forest after they trekked to a river lookout. A member of the group alerted a park ranger after she said her friends were gone for too long.

The group had been stranded since Sunday night.

The Dominion Post reported local volunteer firefighters and their counterparts in Morganton, Brookhaven and Masontown joined in the rescue.

Rescue boats took the hikers to a marina.
