Area Holy Week services announced

Holy Week services at area churches have been announced.

Clarksville Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 330 Market St., will celebrate Palm Sunday and the “Triumphal Entry of Christ” into Jerusalem.

The congregation will re-enact the custom of offering cloaks/coats and the waving of Palm branches and shouting “Hosanna!”

All attending are urged to donate gently used coats, sweaters, etc., that will be donated to a local charity.

A 24-hour prayer vigil will begin at 7 p.m. April 16 and conclude with the Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m.

Pastor Brad Edgar will lead the Easter sunrise service at 8 a.m., followed by a fellowship breakfast in the church social hall.

Easter church service will follow at 10:30 a.m.

On Good Friday, the Carmichaels Ministerium will conduct a short walk from the Carmichaels Town Square (in the middle of Carmichaels), to the First Christian Church, 235 South Market St., Carmichaels.

Participants will begin the walk at 11:45 a.m., led by the Carmichaels Borough Police, followed by Ben Hathaway who will carry the cross that represents the cross Christ carried to Calvery for his crucifixion.

The worship service will begin at noon. The Call to Worship will be led by the Rev. Reagan Fike.

Readings representing the “Seven Last Words of Christ” will be given by the Rev. Bruce Judy, the Rev. Rebecca Dittenhafer, the Rev. Charles Sowden, Judy Virgili, the Rev. Reagan Fike, the Rev. Jeff Hathaway and the Rev. Frank Vucic.
