Area man sentenced in indecent assault case

WAYNESBURG – A former Graysville man will be required to maintain an updated address under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act for the next 15 years.
Ulysses Arleigh Zimmerman, 30, pleaded guilty Dec. 11 to corruption of minors and indecent assault stemming from an Oct. 9 incident involving a young girl in Richhill Township. A charge of aggravated assault of a person under the age of 16 was withdrawn.
Greene County Judge Farley Toothman sentenced Zimmerman Tuesday to 180 days to 23 ½ months in jail with credit for time served. Zimmerman is immediately eligible to apply for parole. However, as a condition of his sentence, he cannot be released until the Greene County Adult Probation office gives approval to the address he will be released to.
“The reality for him is if he doesn’t find an approved residence he can remain incarcerated for 23 ½ months,” Toothman said.
Probation officer Lisa Hillsman testified she was working with Zimmerman and his family to find a suitable location. Zimmerman’s sentence precludes him from living in a residence where children reside.
Hillsman said a faith-based homeless shelter in Jefferson County is one option being investigated at this time.
As an additional condition of Zimmerman’s sentencing he is to have no contact with the victim or her family. He was ordered to pay $750 in fines plus court costs and fees and to perform 175 hours of community service.
This sentence will run consecutively to one he received for an unrelated theft by unlawful taking charge from Oct. 24, 2012, in Jefferson. He pleaded guilty and received probation for one year for that incident.
