Waynesburg man pleads guilty to stealing all-terrain vehicle
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man who pleaded guilty Monday to stealing an all-terrain vehicle and items from a parked sport utility vehicle in Waynesburg three years ago was sentenced by Greene County Judge Farley Toothman to 11 ½ to 23 ½ months in jail.
Wayne Calvin Shriver, 21, of 86 S. Morris Street, pleaded guilty to three counts each of theft, theft from a motor vehicle and conspiracy and one count each of receiving stolen property and retail theft.
Between May 29 and May 30, 2011, Shriver and a juvenile stole an ATV from a shed on North Liberty Street owned by Brian King. The two also entered a vehicle parked on North Liberty Street and stole several items.Waynesburg patrolman Tom Ankrom, while investigating another incident, learned Shriver had been seen riding an ATV that fit the stolen vehicle’s description. He interviewed Shriver and Shriver admitted to stealing the ATV and items from the parked vehicle, according to court documents.
The retail theft charge stemmed from the theft of an iPod from Walmart in Franklin Township Dec. 10, 2011.
Shriver was ordered to pay $150 in restitution to Wood and $400 in restitution to King. He was given credit for time served dating to Jan. 15. He also was ordered to pay $750 in fines and perform 175 hours of community service.
In another case, a Bobtown man who was found guilty of simple assault April 7 by a Greene County jury was sentenced Monday by Toothman to 24 months in the county intermediate punishment program.
Mark L. Johnson, 50, of 274 Duff St., was found guilty of assaulting Charles Stallman, punching Stallman in the face several times, April 13, 2013, on Dazelle Street in Bobtown.
Johnson will spend the first 12 months of the program on house arrest and the remaining 12 months on probation. He was granted work release privileges for his time on house arrest.
He also was fined $750 and ordered to perform 250 hours of community service.
