Franklin supervisors announce cleanup day
WAYNESBURG – Franklin Township supervisors announced Monday that the township will hold its annual cleanup day May 3 at the municipal building.
Residents who want to dispose of unwanted household items can bring them to the township building between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
This year, the township has again made accommodations so residents can drop off electronic items, including computers and monitors, televisions, microwaves and cellular telephones.
Certain items cannot be accepted. They include tires, oil, paint and combustible liquids.
In other business at Monday’s meeting, the supervisors voted to accept a petition presented by Jim Hopkins to close a paper alley, Eagle Alley, in Morrisville.
The alley is about 165 feet long and runs between Stewart and Flower streets. All adjoining property owners have agreed to have the alley closed.
The closing of the alley will first have to be advertised. Supervisor Reed Kiger said the cost of the advertisement must be paid by the applicant, as was the case on similar requests in the past.
