Hiker dies in fall from ledge at Pa. park

1 min read

JIM THORPE (AP) – A 20-year-old man had died in a fall from a hiking trail at Glen Onoko Falls at Lehigh Gorge State Park in eastern Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton said Jesse Michael Crossley of Catasauqua was pronounced dead at the scene by the Carbon County coroner about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Officials said Crossley suffered severe head injuries after falling at least 30 feet from a ledge near the falls. He had been hiking in sneakers and a bathing suit with a group of friends.

Police said an investigation is underway but there doesn’t appear to be anything suspicious. They said the hikers were not properly dressed to be hiking in such a hazardous area.

A New York woman died at the waterfall last August.
