Man taken into custody at Burgettstown apartment
A man wanted by South Park police was taken into custody Monday night after police from several departments surrounded the Burgettstown apartment building where he was reportedly staying.
Andrew Rostosky, 30, of Pleasant Hills, was taken into custody after a brief struggle. The bulletin was issued by South Park police after an involuntary mental health examination and treatment document had been issued for him. McDonald police were notified that he was suicidal and believed he was going to be crucified by members of an organization. Police also learned he had a high-powered long rifle and compound hunting bow.
Family members learned Monday that he was at his girlfriend’s apartment on Shady Avenue in Burgettstown. Police went to the apartment but Rostosky was not there. He, his girlfriend and two children arrived about two hours later.
Three officers went to the back of the apartment while three others went to the front. The girlfriend allowed police to enter the home. Rostosky reportedly refused to comply with commands to lie on the ground and put his hands behind his back. He also reportedly struggled with police as their tired to take him into custody.
Police confiscated a rifle and ammunition.
Rostosky was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. He will be charged by McDonald police with resisting arrest.
Assisting were police from Hanover and Smith townships.
