The Meadows table games revenue rises from February
During the month that spring finally sprung, table games revenue blossomed at Pennsylvania casinos and burst out fully at The Meadows Casino.
March revenue statewide totaled $67.9 million in March, up nearly 1 percent from $67.4 million a year ago, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported this week.
The Meadows Casino in North Strabane Township had $3,014,710 in gross revenue at 75 tables last month, its highest figure since August and a 73.7 percent increase over February ($1,735,666). That total, though, was 9.1 percent below $3,318,622 in March 2013, when 81 tables were operating.
Statewide, last month’s figure was the most collected from table games since blackjack, roulette and other games were introduced at casinos nearly four years ago.
The year-over-year difference in Pennsylvania, however, is less than one-tenth of 1 percent if figures are used from the 11 casinos operating in March 2013 and March 2014. In that instance, last month’s total was only $54,606 above March 2013.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Fayette County opened July 1 and had $496,884 in revenue last month.
Seven of the 11 casinos open each March experienced a decrease from the previous year. Revenue declined 9 percent at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh from $6,740,040 in March 2013 to $6,136,161 this year.
Overall revenue at the state’s gambling sites was down 4.2 percent last month because of a continuing slide in slot machines play.
