Nemacolin cleanup day needs volunteers
NEMACOLIN – Volunteers are needed Saturday for a Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania event to be held from 9 a.m. to noon in Nemacolin, under the auspices of Nemacolin Neighbors United. The GAC of PA is an offshoot of the Keep America Beautiful program.
In existence in the state since 2004, the GAC of PA is responsible for 1.5 million volunteers picking up 74 million pounds of litter and waste. More than 132,000 miles of roads, waterways, shorelines and trails have been cleaned, and over 100,000 trees, bulbs and flowers planted.
Volunteers joining the Nemacolin cleanup will meet at the Nemacolin Park and clean the area from the park along Nemacolin Road to where it meets with Route 88. Gloves, safety vests and bags will be provided to participants.
