N. Franklin to amend fireworks ordinance

1 min read

North Franklin Township supervisors plan to amend the local fireworks ordinance to make it less restrictive for such displays to be approved.

Supervisors plan to lift stipulations in the existing ordinance that permits fireworks displays only at such locations as Trinity Area School District property and Consol Energy Park.

Any group wishing to hold a fireworks display still must seek a township permit to do so, township records show.

The supervisors also plan to enact a public gathering ordinance that would require those hosting larger gatherings, including protests, to apply for a township permit.

The ordinances are expected to be adopted at 6 p.m. May 13 at the township building, 620 Franklin Farms Road.
