Tressel among 3 finalists to lead Youngstown State

1 min read

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) – Jim Tressel is one of three finalists for the president’s job at Youngstown State University, where he coached before leading the football program at Ohio State University.

Youngstown State trustees interviewed candidates over the weekend and announced their short list Monday. The other finalists are Southern Oregon University President Mary Cullinan and Gary L. Miller, chancellor at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

The three will visit the northeast Ohio campus next week. Trustees expect to make their choice next month.

Tressel also is a finalist for the presidency at the University of Akron, where he’s been an administrator for two years. He took a job at Akron after being forced out at Ohio State following a scandal in which his players sold memorabilia for cash and tattoos.
