Beallsville man arrested
A Beallsville man was arrested Wednesday by state police after he allegedly dragged a woman with a vehicle during a domestic dispute the previous day.
Michael David Caldwell, 27, of 2806 Main St., is accused of dragging Lorette Ann Blackburn with a vehicle owned by her grandfather. Caldwell had taken the vehicle without the grandfather’s permission.
Blackburn told police that she and Caldwell have been living with her grandparents since May. Caldwell was supposed to be taking a shower. But when Blackburn could hear the sound of plastic over the running water, she forced open the bathroom door and found him with packages of suspected heroin.
Caldwell ran down the stairs with the heroin and took the keys to the vehicle. Blackburn told police she walked along the side of the vehicle, trying to get in it. He reportedly took off as she hung onto the vehicle and dragged her about 20 feet.
Caldwell was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson on charges of reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving under suspension, careless driving and reckless driving. He was placed in Washington County jail on a $25,000 percentage bond.
