Flenniken announces schedule
CARMICHAELS – The Friends of Flenniken Library used book sale begins Aug. 18 and will run through Aug. 30 during regular library hours in the library’s Blue Room.
The selection includes novels, nonfiction, books for children and young adults, DVDs, and recorded music on CD. Don’t forget to pick up some children’s picture books and novels to keep the kids entertained on rainy days.
Sale items will not be priced. Instead, monetary donations will be accepted in any amount.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to support library programming.
Anyone wishing to donate items for the book sale may drop them off at the library during regular hours. Volunteers also are needed Aug. 14 to assist with set-up.
Flenniken also is beginning a new garden club. All ages are welcome and the first meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 26. Subsequent meetings will be held monthly, date and times to be determined by members.
Other programs scheduled by the library include:
• “My Journey Through the Holy Lands,” presented by Bob Redinger at 6 p.m. Sept. 10. Redinger will talk about his travels through the Holy Lands, including the Eastern Mediterranean, from Patmos to Greece and Palestine to Egypt. A light supper and refreshments will be provided. Sign-up requested, but not required.
• Weekly Fall Story Time starts at 11 a.m. Sept. 16 with stories, songs, and crafts for children ages 3-5 and their parents.
• Weekly Fall Toddler Time begins at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 for toddlers up to 3 years old.
• Annual wine tasting is planned Oct. 18, featuring local wines from Ripepi Winery & Vineyard, Christian W. Klay Winery, Thistlewaite Vineyards and Greenhouse Winery to follow suit.
• The library will be closed Sept. 1 in observance of Labor Day.
