Two injured in head-on Canonsburg crash

An elderly Canonsburg man and woman were injured in a head-on crash in the 300 block of West Pike Street, between Payne Place and St. Patrick Church, in Canonsburg about 2 p.m. Thursday. The woman, reportedly in her 80s, was driving east when she crossed into the westbound lanes, hitting the oncoming vehicle driven by the man, believed to be in his 70s, Canonsburg police said. The woman was taken by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittbsurgh for treatment of a broken leg and head injuries. He was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises. Police were told by emergency medical personnel that the injuries did not appear life-threatening. Canonsburg firefighters also responded to the scene.
