Scholarship offered for nontraditional students

2 min read

WAYNESBURG – The Community Foundation of Greene County is accepting applications for a scholarship geared to help nontraditional students go to college or other post-secondary education.

The Stealth Scholarship is open to non-traditional students who live or work in Greene County and who are planning to pursue a post-secondary course of education (two-year or four-year degree) at an accredited college, university, community college or trade/technical school.

For the purpose of the Stealth Scholarship, a nontraditional student is a person who has previously graduated from high school for at least two years, or has completed a GED, and is at least 22 years of age.

“This is a nice scholarship for someone who may be employed in the service industry, but would like to go back to school for a different career or higher wage,” said Bettie Stammerjohn, CFGC executive director. “Or it could benefit someone who didn’t quite know what they wanted to do when they completed high school and have now decided what they want to do. There are many possibilities.”

The Stealth Scholarship Application and guidelines can be found on the CFGC website at www.cfgcpa.org/scholarships. Potential applicants may also request an application by phone at 724-627-2010, emailing cfgcpa@gmail.com or visiting the CFGC office at 108 E. High Street, Waynesburg. Copies of the application form have also been distributed to the Pennsylvania CareerLink in Waynesburg, as well as to several local colleges and technical schools.

Scholarships will not exceed $2,500 annually, and may be renewable for up to four years. The scholarship must be used for tuition, fees or textbooks required for the course of study.
