Central Greene board approves staffing decisions
WAYNESBURG – The Central Greene School board Tuesday approved several staffing recommendations for both professional and nonprofessional employees.
The board approved leaves for three teachers beginning the first nine weeks of the school year: an adoption leave of absence for middle school teacher Laura Huffman through January 5, 2015; an unpaid medical leave for elementary speech and language teacher Alissa Pettit to the end of the first nine weeks; and a sabbatical for elementary art teacher Rachael Kelley for the first nine weeks.
Erin Erjavek was hired as a long-term substitute second-grade teacher for the elementary school.
Other professional substitutes added to the list were Debbie Bristor for the elementary school, Brittany Herrington for social studies, Jamie Snyder for physical education/English/social studies, Samantha McLauglin for the elementary school, Ashley Swestyn for elementary and elementary special education, John Stanton Carson for art and Stephanie Stadcliffe for pre-kindergarten and special education from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
Under athletics and extra-curricular activities, the board accepted the resignation of varsity head girls basketball coach John Van Meter, effective immediately. Additional resignations were accepted from Molly Cheek, varsity assistant softball coach and Lauren Abbadini, volunteer cheerleading coach.
The board hired Rick Layton as the seventh-and eighth-grade assistant boys soccer coach and Alison Busby as middle school cheerleading sponsor. Nicole Rohanna was named the seventh-and eighth-grade assistant girls basketball coach and Raquel Rugani as varsity assistant softball coach. Volunteer coaches approved by the board were Tanner and Hogan Barnhart for varsity boys soccer, and Mark Pochran for varsity rifle.
Vincent Morrow was hired as a lifeguard for the Waynesburg Central High School swimming pool at an hourly rate of $12.23, effective immediately.
Three volunteer music instructors for the middle school were approved. They are Welsey Weightman, Jason Falvo,and Mason Stiver.
Contracts were accepted with ComDoc to provide five copier/printers to the district at a monthly cost of $1,090.95 and to provide Papercut software licensing with a five-year support agreement in the amount of $21,502.80.
NSA Security Forces was retained for sporting event security in the district.
The board agreed to enroll the district in the PAEducator.net employment search site, sponsored by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit III to advertise and search for candidates for employment at an annual cost of $1,750.
The first day of school in the district is Monday.
