South Strabane police charge several in retail theft cases
South Strabane Township police have filed charges against several people accused in thefts at stores in the township.
Jessica Lynn Powell, 21, and Shelly Lynn Bock, 32, both of 127 Maple Terrace, Washington, were charged Wednesday with retail theft and conspiracy for allegedly stealing almost $500 in merchandise from Walmart, Trinity Point, on Nov. 21.
Sharon Lepore, 42, of Aliquippa, was charged Wednesday with retail theft, forgery and theft by deception. She is accused of stealing a blender from Walmart on Nov. 21 and returning it for a gift card using someone else’s identification.
Sheila M. Barnhart, 42, of 43 Daley Drive, Washington, and Hali M. Stern, 26, of 9 Lemon Hill Road, Prosperity, are charged with retail theft after they allegedly stole items valued at $598 from Kohl’s, Strabane Square, on Nov. 20. Police said the two put the items in their purses and a baby’s stroller.
William S. Helmick, 43, of 111 First St., Canonsburg, and Mark A. Boyd, 51, of 229 Jefferson Ave., Washington, were charged Monday for their alleged roles in the theft of a vacuum cleaner and lawn mower on two different days in June at Walmart. The items were then returned for gift cards, police said. Helmick is charged with retail theft and conspiracy, while Boyd is charged with theft by deception and conspiracy.
Charges will be sent by summons to the suspects from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
