Police Beat Dec. 3
Warrant arrest: William C. Skinner, 42, of 21 Zaccarino Lane, Cecil, was arrested Monday on a warrant stemming from an incident in July. Skinner reportedly had a gold ring with seven rows of diamonds that was stolen in a July 9 burglary of a home on Cecil-Henderson Road. He allegedly pawned the ring for $75 July 14 at a pawn shop in Dormont. Police said Skinner told them he found the ring while riding his bicycle near Montour Trail. Skinner was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on a charge of theft of property lost, mislaid or stolen. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Theft from vehicle: Change totaling $3 was stolen Monday from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway along Reising Road, police said.
Vehicle rolls: Michael W. Sherman, 48, of 135 Main St., Hickory, escaped injury Sunday afternoon when he failed to negotiate a curve on Hickory Ridge Road at Ryburn Road and his sport utility vehicle went off the road and rolled over, Chartiers police said.
Two charged: Dawn Michelle Dowling, 47, and Robert A Dowling, 46, were charged Monday by Donegal police with simple assault and disorderly conduct for allegedly assaulting each other Nov. 21 inside their home at 103 Wayne St., Claysville. She is accused of trying to stick her thumb in his eye. He is accused of biting her thumb, telling police it was in self-defense. The charges are being sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
Two injured: Amanda Cole, 35, of 143 Jollick Manor, Washington, and a passenger in her vehicle, Judy Caldwell, 55, of 740 Maple Ave., Washington, were injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash on Humbert Lane near Washington High School stadium. South Strabane police said Cole was driving west when an eastbound vehicle, driven by Michael Hildebrand, 46, of 1193 N. Franklin St., Washington, crossed into her lane and struck her vehicle.
Card used: Travis Hornack of Ellsworth told South Strabane police Monday his debit card was used without his permission to make several large purchases Friday at Wal-Mart, Trinity Point.
Vehicle crash: John Liam O’Toole, 18, of 102 Harvest Circle, Venetia, escaped injury Sunday when he wrecked his pickup truck on McChain Road, Union. He told Southwest Regional police he was traveling around a bend when he saw there was another vehicle partially in his lane. O’Toole had to swerve to avoid the vehicle. He attempted to stop but slid on gravel and hit a utility pole, causing a power outage in the area.
