Pa. family of six escapes before fire destroys home

JEFFERSON (AP) – A family of six escaped a fire that destroyed their home near Pittsburgh.

Firefighters say a man led his wife and four children to safety after waking up and smelling smoke around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

They say their Jefferson Township home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived minutes later.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Jefferson Township is about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.
