1 min read

Two people were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle crash on Route 40 (National Pike) in Centerville about 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Centerville police Chief Dan Gaso said one vehicle flipped onto its roof and slid 106 feet into the parking lot of Hugo’s Restaurant.

Joann Shaver of Brownsville was pinned inside the wreckage of her vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters and ambulance personnel. She was flown to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle, Gavin McNally of Monongahela, was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital.

The chief said the investigation into the crash is continuing.

Gaso said both vehicles came to a stop in the parking lot. Traffic on Route 40 was slowed in the area and closed only briefly for the medical helicopter.

Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Richeyville and Denbo-Vesta 6.
