Cal U. students warned
California Borough police are looking for three men suspected in a home-invasion armed robbery Thursday night that led California University of Pennsylvania to issue an alert advising its students to stay indoors and keep all doors and windows locked.
Police say three black men, one armed with a silver handgun, forced their way into a student rental apartment at the corner of Fourth and Wood streets about 10:15 p.m. and demanded money. The suspect with the gun is described as standing about 6-foot-5 and weighing more than 250 pounds. He was wearing glasses and a red-and-black hoodie. Another suspect, who was described as having a medium build and wearing a navy blue hoodie, has a distinct upper harelip. The third suspect is tall, with a goatee, and wore a blue hoodie.
The suspects left the apartment with an undetermined amount of money and fled on foot toward Third Street.
Alerts were issued through the California Borough police app and the California University emergency alert app.
California police Chief Rick Encapera could not be reached Friday for further details.
