Canonsburg man faces charges
A Canonsburg man is facing charges including driving under the influence of alcohol after police say he nearly crashed into a borough police cruiser early Friday.
Police said Kenneth Sredzienski, 33, of 1329 Route 980, was driving east on West Pike Street when he crossed halfway into the westbound lane, almost hitting the cruiser being driven by Officer Jonathon Cornell.
Cornell turned his vehicle around and followed Sredzienski, who reportedly crossed the line two more times. The officer activated the lights and sirens on his cruiser, but police say Sredzienski continued for a few blocks before stopping near the intersection with Belmont Avenue.
Sredzienski did not immediately acknowledge Cornell’s presence next to his car window and appeared to be staring straight ahead, police said. Cornell reportedly had to knock on the windows of the vehicle to get Sredzienski to open his door.
When Sredzienski got out of the his vehicle, police said he almost fell over. Police determined it was not safe to have him perform a field-sobriety test. Sredzienski was taken to Canonsburg Hospital, where blood was drawn to determine his level of intoxication.
