A Dilliner man scheduled to appear Tuesday before the Greene County Court on charges connected to the March 24 armed robbery of the BFS Truck Stop in Mt. Morris was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly attempted to rob a store in Point Marion.

Travis C. Shuppe, 21, of 151 Cemetery Hill Road ,was arrested by state police after he attempted to rob the Family Dollar store at 20 Penn St. shortly before 10 p.m.

Police said Shuppe entered the store and placed his hand in his coat as though he had a weapon. He demanded all the money from the cash register and safe.

Shuppe fled when a customer entered the store and did not get awat with any money, police said. He was arrested a short time later after residents of the community helped identify him, police said.

Shuppe was being held in Fayette County jail awaiting arraignment in Fayette County Central Court, state police said.

Shuppe, along with Shyan Michael Strosnider, 21, of Bobtown, was arrested in April and charged with the armed robbery of the BFS Truck Stop.

Police said a man wearing a mask entered the truck stop at 12:15 a.m., held a knife to a truck stop clerk’s side and demanded money. The man fled with $345.

Shuppe admitted his involvement in the robbery and claimed Strosnider was the one who went into the truck stop while he waited in the car. However, charges against Strosnider were dismissed at a preliminary hearing in May, according to online court records.

Shuppe is scheduled to appear at plea court Tuesday to either enter a guilty plea or to ask for a trial. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Shuppe also is wanted on a warrant issued in Washington County for failing to appear for a hearing on a charge of retail theft for an incident Sept. 18 in North Franklin Township.
