Philly protesters demonstrate near football stadium
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Protesters in Philadelphia staged a peaceful demonstration in reaction to the grand jury decisions not to indict white police officers in the deaths of two unarmed black men.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported about 200 people staged a “die-in” outside the football stadium where the Philadelphia Eagles lost Sunday night to the Seattle Seahawks.
The demonstrators laid silently on the street for 4 minutes and 30 seconds to symbolize the 4 hours and 30 minutes the body of Michael Brown lay on the street after he was shot in Ferguson, Mo. Similar protests erupted around the country in reaction also to the jury decision in the death of Eric Garner in New York City.
The newspaper reported a handful of football fans cursed at the demonstrators.
